OUR MISSION
Sanco's unique concept brings an authentic Neapolitan pizza dining experience to Newcastle. Focussing on quality produce, sustainability, and aims to reduce waste.
We all do it, open a menu and end up ordering pretty much the same pizza we always do. So we've decided to eliminate menus in an attempt to break the norm; a concept designed to reduce food waste and surprise diners.
The process is simple; keep the light on, we bring you the finest, fresh slice of hand-crafted, Neapolitan pizza...turn it off, then pizza stops.
Sharing food is a quintessential Italian tradition that we foster....you'll try unexpected flavours, indulging in a unique dining experience. How can you truly experience a restaurant with just one meal choice?

OUR PIZZA
We will consistently deliver a unique experience; using fresh dough, all made on site every day using the finest imported Italian ingredients.
Our Caputo® flour and San Marzano DOP tomatoes both originate in Naples, the home of the Neapolitan pizza.
Our amazing Pizzaiolos will assemble your authentic Neapolitan pizza in our Gozney® wood-fired oven right in front of your eyes.
Toppings?...Get ready to try something new, or just stick to your well-known favorite!
There's no gamble in this game of pizza roulette...you keep the light on, we keep bringing the pizza!

OUR TEAM
Sanco consists of a team of pizza enthusiasts who share a love for true, authentic Neapolitan pizza.
Our Pizzaioli have almost 20 years of combined experience in Neapolitan pizza. We encourage our guests to talk to the team - we can guarantee you will leave with a new fact or knowledge about the famous Neapolitan pizza, or how to truly use that impressive wood-fired oven correctly!
Alongside them, Sanco’s founder, Paolo Franchi, has had a lifetime passion for Italian food (not that his parents or Nonna left much option), Sanco was born out of love for the Neapolitan Pizza.
Paolo (and our Pizzaioli) have trained at the AVPN (more on that later) in Naples, ensuring you'll experience a true, authentic, taste of Naples at Sanco.

HOW IT WORKS
Turn on the light at your table, and one of our team of pizza enthusiasts will promptly bring over a slice...don't ask us what it will be, this is pizza roulette!
You keep that light on, the pizza keeps coming!
When you're feeling full, switch off the light to take a break or to signal that you're done.
Our Pizzaiolos will be hand crafting some well-known favourites alongside some wildcards during your visit (rumour has it that one of them puts pineapple on their pizzas...🤌🏼)

THE AUTHENTIC NEAPOLITAN PIZZA

It's a lesser known fact that the art of the Neapolitan pizza is protected under UNESCO World Heritage; this culinary practice, comprises of four different phases relating to the preparation of the dough and its baking in a wood-fired oven, involving a rotatory movement whilst cooking by the Pizzaiolo. The Neapolitan pizza is unparalleled in it's authenticity, and that's exactly what Sanco promises to bring it's diners
The True Neapolitan Pizza Association (Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana, AVPN) was founded in June 1984 in Naples. Its mission is to promote and protect in Italy and around the world, the true Neapolitan pizza (verace pizza Napoletana).

Pizza is quite literally at the heart of all we do; therefore we needed to make sure we deliver a true, authentic, Neapolitan pizza! With this in mind, there is only one place to train, with the best of the best Pizzaiolo maestros... and that's AVPN Napoli!
All of our Pizzaiolos have trained at AVPN, ensuring we consistently deliver true, authentic, Neapolitan pizza.
Finally, not forget the star of the show! Our impressive Gozney® Napoli Elite, wood-fired pizza oven, sitting centre stage at Sanco, and that's where the magic happens.
Feel free to speak to our Pizzaiolos during your visit, they might even let you have a go with the peel!
